During the IOC Summit, Falun Gong Practitioners Expose the CCP Persecution

On October 1-9, 2009, the 121st Olympic Session and the XIIIth Olympic Congress of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) were held in Copenhagen, Denmark. There were about 1200 sports delegates from around the world and an equal number of journalists gathered there. Falun Gong practitioners took this opportunity to introduce Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), and expose the ten-year brutal persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

This was the first time Denmark has hosted such a world-class summit. Bella Center, the IOC 2009 Summit site, was fully safeguarded by the police, and the roads nearby were blocked. By explaining the facts to the Copenhagen Police chief, the Falun Gong group was granted an exception, and allowed to hold a protest across from the main entrance of Bella Center. As Falun Gong practitioners have a good reputation for their peaceful protests around the world, the chief constable in charge of summit security approved the permit for the Falun Gong group. "No groups allowed to gather/protest near Bella Center" was an agreement between Danish police, IOC headquarters in Switzerland, US security for President Obama's visit, and the Brazilian police.

On October 2, the hosting city for 2016 Olympic Games was chosen, with the contenders being Chicago (USA), Madrid (Spain), Tokyo (Japan), and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). US President Obama, along with state leaders from the other three countries came in person to Bella Center in Copenhagen to try to win the right to host the 2016 Olympic Games.

In the morning on that day, the practitioners assembled opposite the main entrance of Bella Center. They erected banners reading "Falun Dafa is Great" and "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong Immediately," and practiced the exercises quietly.
Heavily-armed police officers stood across the street. They noticed that the practitioners were not influenced by the early autumn weather, while peacefully practicing the exercises. The unusual serenity attracted the police officers. During their breaks, some even walked across the street to the practitioners' site and learned some movements. Some also listened to the practitioners introduce Falun Gong and showed great interest in learning.

At about 10:00 a.m., President Obama finished his speech and was about to leave Bella Center. His motorcade came out from the gate and was facing the bright yellow banners displayed across the street, "Falun Dafa Is Good" and "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong Immediately." The practitioners said, "President Obama may already know about Falun Gong. He is now in Denmark, a small remote Nordic country, and he can see Falun Gong practitioners presenting the same message during his short stay in Denmark of only four and a half hours. Perhaps someday everyone will realize the importance of this message."

Local practitioner Gisela said, "Today I come here to draw attention to the Olympic spirit and values. This Olympic congress is the first ever since the Paris congress in 1994. I think many people have forgotten the Olympic spirit when holding the Olympic Games. One part of the Olympic spirit is peace. They held the Olympic Games in Beijing last year. Since then, the Chinese human rights situation has dramatically deteriorated. Not only the Falun Gong practitioners, but also other religious people, even everyday people, if they dare to speak out against injustice, suffer mercilessly cruel persecution. This is what I want all people who participate in the Olympic congress to know. One should not trade moral values for immediate economic interests."

At around 8:00 p.m. that evening, it had grown dark outside. As people were leaving Bella Center, after they had received the news that Brazil won the right to host the 2016 summer Olympic Games, they could still see the Falun Gong practitioners, who were holding a candlelight vigil to commemorate their fellow practitioners who lost their lives in the persecution.

London's Chinatown: Introducing Falun Gong and Exposing the Persecution

On Saturday, October 3, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners held an activity in Chinatown, London, to introduce Falun Gong and let people know about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s persecution of the practice. The event was also held to express support for the 61 million Chinese people that have quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

The practitioners first took part in the parade organized by the Global Coalition for Quitting the CCP. The parade set off from the Chinese Embassy, passed through central London's busy business district, and continued to Chinatown. After walking through Chinatown twice, the procession stopped for a short time at the pagoda in Chinatown. The theme of the parade was read out in Chinese: "Only by disintegrating the CCP can the persecution be stopped."

The practitioners then split into three groups to distribute information telling the facts in Chinatown, Leicester Square (near Chinatown), and St. Martin Place.

Saturdays are busy days in London. It was also the time of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and many Chinese people were visiting Chinatown. Many of them were shocked to learn about the CCP's crimes. Within one day in Chinatown, over 200 people announced their withdrawals from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

In Chinatown, practitioners handed out flyers, promoted quitting the CCP, and also sang songs composed by practitioners. A couple from Scotland listened for a long time. The wife told the reporter: "The songs are really so beautiful, but I noticed that some Chinese people who passed by seemed indifferent to such beautiful singing." After hearing about the CCP's lies and how the Chinese people are misled, she held up the Falun Gong flyer in her hand and said, "China really is a strange country--they (the CCP authorities) don't like people to rise up."

A lady passing by paused and read the display boards very carefully. She asked a practitioner nearby what Falun Gong was and why the CCP persecutes it. After the practitioner explained it to her, she asked: "Do you think that China can free itself from the control of the Communist system?" The practitioner said, "Didn't the changes in Eastern Europe happen unexpectedly in a brief moment?" The lady responded, "How wonderful!"

Taiwan Calls for an Investigation into the Blocking of NTDTV's Signal

The disruption of New Tang Dynasty Television Asia Pacific (NTDTV AP)'s broadcast signal by an unknown source has seriously affected telecommunications and national security in Taiwan. Legislators Lo Shu-lei, Chu Fong-chi, Tsao Erh-chang, and Yang Li-Huan of the Transportation Committee of the Legislative Yuan introduced a proposal on October 8, 2009, requiring the National Communications Commission (NCC), the Transportation Department, and Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) to investigate the cause and the source of the signal's disruption and to prevent future incidents. The Transportation Committee passed the resolution.

NTDTV AP's signal is broadcast through the CHT's International Program Transmission Service, which is partially owned by the Taiwanese government. Intermittent signal disruption started at 1:30 p.m. on September 17. Daily interference has occurred during primary news broadcasts and lasted all day on October 1, the day the Chinese communist regime celebrated its 60th year in power. The low-frequency transmission of the satellite covers Taiwan and nearly four-fifths of mainland China.

CHT could not provide any alternatives during the signal disruption, which triggered protests from TV viewers. Several legislators of the Transportation Department expressed their dissatisfaction with the results of a preliminary investigation, which did not identify the source of the disruption.

Legislator Lo Shu-lei said the satellite was used for disaster relief and national security. If NCC and CHT technology could not find the source of the disruption, she wanted to know what should be done if it happened again or if it was needed for disaster relief. The other side of the strait has 34 satellites and is ranked number 3 in the world. She wanted to know how to prevent future interference through international institutions.

Legislators Chiang Lien-Fu and Kuo Wen-Chen asked why the agencies involved didn't have the capability to find the source of the interference. NCC Director Peng Yun said NCC's Resource Administration is investigating it. Similar interference happened during the Olympic Games in Beijing last year. This time it happened on the 60th anniversary of the CCP. The NCC's Resource Administration is taking it very seriously.

Kuo said the Chinese Communist Party was the source of the interference, so national security was involved. National security technology is needed to do an investigation.

Legislator Wu Yu-Sheng said if the CCP interfered with Taiwan's satellite, no matter which TV channel's signal was disrupted, it should be prevented from happening. "There is freedom of media in Taiwan. I would be upset if the CCP blocked our signals." He asked the NCC to pay special attention to the matter, investigate the source, report on it as soon as possible, and have talks with the Mainland Committee. "If not handled correctly, it could turn to a political issue," he said.

The Transportation Committee passed a resolution requiring the NCC, the Transportation Department, and Chunghwa Telecom to investigate the cause and the source of the signal's disruption and prevent future incidents.

Methods of Torture Used in Chongqing City Women's Forced Labor Camp

The Chongqing City Women's Forced Labor Camp is located on No. 28 Ganyu Road in the Shimahe Community, the Jiangbei District, Chongqing City. The practitioners detained here are monitored and mistreated by the guards and the inmates they control. The practitioners are forced to stand or squat in a military posture, suffer mental and physical mistreatment, and deal with hardship every day. Also, the guards and inmates abuse and beat them at will.

1. Physical Abuse

The practitioners are forced to get up at 6 a.m. After ten minutes of cleaning up, they are brought to a cement dam to stand or squat in a military posture until 8 a.m.. After breakfast, they are brought back to the dam to stand until noon. During that time, they are not allowed to move or talk to each other.
After lunch, they are allowed to take a short break. Then they are rushed to the dam to stand again until 6 p.m.. After dinner, they are given 15 minutes to wash and brush their teeth. Then they are forced to stand or squat in the hallway of the ward until 11 p.m..

2. Limiting Water Supply

According to labor camp regulations, each practitioner is allowed to use one basin of water in the morning and half basin at night per day. The water is used to wash their faces and feet, brush their teeth, wash their bowls, clean the cell, and flush the toilet. They are only allowed to change underwear and take a shower once a week with two basins of water. Practitioners who refuse to follow the regulations suffer corporal punishment and have their water supply withheld. Currently, four practitioners have been prohibited from changing their underwear and taking a shower for more than two months.

3. Inmates Were Trained to Persecute Practitioners

The authorities of the labor camp screened the most ruthless, poisonous, and wicked inmates to control the practitioners and provided them with special training session just for that purpose. During the training, the inmates were told publicly, "Any benevolence towards Falun Gong is an injury to yourself."
The authorities decided to reward or punish the controlling inmates based on how they mistreated practitioners. The guards publicly incite and force the inmates to do evil, and the inmates go all out to persecute the practitioners to gain rewards.

4. Mental Persecution

According to labor camp rules, the practitioners have to write a so-called "thought report" every day and recite the six rules of the Ministry of Public Security and the 23 rules of the labor camp.
Beside the mental persecution, the labor camp also aggravate the physical abuse. The practitioners are prohibited from getting in touch with each other. The controlling inmates have to approve of practitioners' every deed and word. If the practitioners don't comply, they are verbally abused and beaten.

5. Cruel Strategies

The guards employ all sorts of tactics to persecute the practitioners. As a result, the practitioners have been seriously injured both mentally and physically. Then the guards put on a hypocritical face and deceive them into getting physical check-up. If the practitioners are found to be ill, they are forced to take medicine and allowed to sit but not to sleep. If the practitioners are found out to be seriously ill, they are forced to take injections and allowed to sleep without closing their eyes.

The Chongqing City Women's Forced Labor Camp is a living hell. The detained practitioners are suffering all kinds of devastation. Even in the face of death, however, they do not have any complaints and are still considerate of others and clarify the truth about Falun Gong in the labor camp.
