Germany: Chinese Tourists Begin to Think at Leipzig Falun Dafa Information Day

On September 5, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners held an information day in downtown Leipzig, a city in the eastern part of Germany, to introduce Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa), a cultivation practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and expose the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s ten-year brutal persecution.

The weather was not ideal, but Willy-Brandt Platz near Leipzig's central train station was still packed with people. Many tourists and local residents took time to study the content of the Falun Gong information. They inquired about China's human rights situation, the features of Falun Gong, and the persecution. Many lingered in front of the exhibits.

A young German took a leaflet and said with a sad expression, "It was four years ago when I heard that Falun Gong was being persecuted by the CCP. Who would have thought that four years later the inhuman persecution is still continuing and is getting worse and worse? This is beyond comprehension."

Leipzig is an important tourist destination, attracting large numbers of visitors from around the world each year, including many from China. On this particular day, several Chinese tourists were rather surprised to find information about Falun Gong outside of China. They approached in small groups to quietly listen to practitioners' explanations and ponder. Some were glad to accept copies of the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" and other Falun Gong informational materials.

An elderly Chinese gentleman was in Germany on a tour with his family. Initially he was suspicious of the materials offered by practitioners. He asked whether they were provided by the German government. Practitioners told him that the printing costs were covered by Falun Gong practitioners. The gentleman understood. He took all kinds of materials and said that he would read them over on the train. Even though he was not a member of the CCP, he said he would think about the information on quitting the CCP that practitioners had shared with him.

23 Members of US House of Representatives Urge the Korean Government Not to Bend to Chinese Government Pressure and Deport Falun Gong Practitioners to China

On August 14, 2009, U.S. Congressman Chris Smith and 22 other House Representatives from both the Republican and Democrat parties sent a joint letter to Korean President Lee Myung-bak. The letter says: "According to news reports, the Chinese government is applying pressure on the South Korean government to deport these Falun Gong practitioners to China, and we have been informed that several of them have already been deported.......we urge your government not to deport Falun Gong practitioners to China, but to find an appropriate way, within the South Korean legal system and the international conventions on torture and refugees ratified by South Korea, to permit Chinese Falun Gong practitioners to remain in South Korea." Below is the text of the Dear Colleague Letter.

August 14, 2009
His Excellency President Lee Myung-bak

PER FAX to: Office of the President, ROK: 82-2-770-7029
Ambassador Han Duck-soo, Republic of Korea Embassy, US: 202-797-0595

Dear Mr. President,

We wish to bring to your attention the plight of 33 Chinese Falun Gong practitioners who have applied for refugee status in South Korea. According to news reports, the Chinese government is applying pressure on the South Korean government to deport these Falun Gong practitioners to China, and we have been informed that several of them have already been deported.

As Members of the US House of Representatives concerned about human rights, we are well aware of the Chinese government's harsh persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The Chinese government has banned Falun Gong and it implements the ban through an extralegal security force, the 610 Office, established not by the Chinese government but by the Chinese Communist Party. The "610 Office" and government forces implement the ban by means of the arbitrary detention, beating, torture and "transformation through reeducation" of Falun Gong practitioners--although practitioners seek only to exercise internationally-recognized fundamental human rights, including freedom of thought, conscience, and religion.

Falun Gong practitioners are among the most brutally persecuted groups in the world today. The total number of practitioners who have died or who have been killed while in Chinese government custody likely exceeds the 3,000 cases we understand to be well-documented. Cases of torture involving Falun Gong practitioners account for 66 per cent of all cases of torture in China, according to the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. There reportedly are over 100,000 Falun Gong practitioners, both men and women, among China's total labor camp population.

In the past 50 years, few countries have made such rapid progress in respect to human rights as has South Korea, both as a government and as a society. It is with this in mind that we urge your government not to deport Falun Gong practitioners to China, but to find an appropriate way, within the South Korean legal system and the international conventions on torture and refugees ratified by South Korea, to permit Chinese Falun Gong practitioners to remain in South Korea.

For your convenience we include a list of Falun Gong practitioners currently in danger of deportation to China. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Practitioners Protest Chinese Communist Party's Atrocities during UN Summit

Hu Jintao, Head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and leaders of more than one hundred countries attended the UN Summit from September 22 to 25. On September 24, several thousand protesters from Myanmar, Israel and China protested outside UN headquarters in New York.

Falun Gong practitioners held activities to protest the CCP's persecution for three consecutive days. They called on the international community not to be deceived by the CCP's lies, and pay attention to the CCP's torture of Falun Gong practitioners and its brutal live organ harvesting.

Fifty-eight-old Falun Gong practitioner Liu Yan was brutally persecuted in Beijing. She was arrested unlawfully nine times, detained four times, and imprisoned twice in labor camps. She was tortured and force-fed during four years of imprisonment. Her parents were persecuted to death for practicing Falun Gong.
She said, "I have witnessed the CCP's persecution. Many Falun Gong practitioners were still imprisoned in prisons and labor camps when I left China. Hu Jintao should awaken as soon as possible, and not be a scapegoat for Jiang Zemin and other culprits in the persecution."

Falun Gong practitioner Zhen Jie is from Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. She was arrested, sent to labor camps, and tortured by beating, hanging, shocking by electric baton, and being force-fed drugs damaging the central nervous system many times. Her daughter, brother, sister and sister-in-law were sent to labor camps and imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong. Her husband was forced to divorce her. She left China, and her biggest wish is to expose the CCP's atrocities and stop the persecution.
Exposing the CCP's lies to uphold justice for her friends

New York resident Ms. Huang from Guangdong, China said that many of her friends in her hometown were imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong. Three of them were tortured to death. She said, "I want to expose the CCP's lies so that they are not deceived by the CCP's propaganda."

Another New Yorker Ms. Chen said that the practitioners' uncompromising courage is admirable. She noticed that the practitioners were peaceful. They just held banners with the words "Falun Dafa is great", "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance", and "Immediately stop the persecution", demonstrated the exercises and distributed flyers to passer-by. Their calm and peaceful demeanor as strikingly different  from other protesters that shouted and made a great commotion.

Sweden: Rally Condemns Communist Regime Atrocities, Supports 60 Million Who Have Withdrawn from the Party

On September 26, Sweden's Quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Service Center organized a rally at Mynttorget Square to condemn the Communist regime's atrocities and support over 60 million Chinese people who have withdrawn from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

The center displayed banners and posters enumerating the CCP's atrocities committed over the past 60 years. The persecution of Falun Gong was highlighted. The display drew the attention of many people. After learning the facts, especially about the regime's harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, people expressed their indignation and signed a petition to condemn the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong.

Petra Lindberg, chairperson for the Support Human Rights in China (SHRIC), said that the Quitting the CCP movement suggests that the Chinese people are now awakening to the truth about the CCP. She said, "Over 60 million people have denounced the CCP! This is very admirable and should be celebrated."
Anna, a college student, carefully read all the posters. She was shocked by the CCP's atrocities and signed the petition to support the Chinese people quitting the party. She said, "I think it is very important to support people who want to quit the party."

A young Chinese girl came to the rally site with her boyfriend. After studying the posters, she talked with a center volunteer and then quit the Communist Youth League.
